LOMS Session at the User Generated Services Workshop, June 26, 2008
Easy Service Creation with LOMS
The LOMS project is tackling the service creation dilemma by introducing novel business models
with additional intermediate roles in the service value chain.
In the project's approach, a service ecosystem is cultivated in which smaller service providers
like SMEs - and ultimately end users themselves - can better access their envisioned niche markets
by means of their own, easily created new services. At the same time, larger platform or network
players can better attract an ecosystem of such partners leveraging their capabilities in a broader
market without a massive increase in operational costs.
The LOMS approach technically supports this model by defining a staged service creation and
deployment process, instantiating so-called "service templates".
Portfolios of domain-specific service templates defined by market demand will have in common that
they hide the technical complexities of basic enabling services that they leverage from existing Telco,
IMS or Internet environments.
In the LOMS session on June 26, 2008, the roles model, the template technology and the
service creation methodology have been elaborated.
Furthermore, live demos illustrated concrete implementations.
